Pilot Network, Alameda, CA, was one of the first companies to offer ultra secure hosting on the Internet. No virus or intrusion attack ever penetrated their data centers. We brought in the lead independent director, and served as an Advisor. The company went public in the first Internet boom, and was one of our most profitable investments.
Medidata Solutions, New York City, provides Internet based software for gathering, editing and reporting the results of clinical trials. We participated in the company's initial financing and served as an Advisor. The company went
public last June. This has been our best investment, in terms
of overall appreciation!
HealthDialog, in Boston, provides information to assist members of health plans as they consider alternative treatments and the management of chronic illness. Doctors are no longer paid to have discusions with patients; Health Dialog meets this need. We participated in the original venture fiancing. The company was acquired in 2008.
SkyFuel, Albuquerque, NM, builds thermal solar power plants that provide steam for the generation of electricity. We were the only venture firm in the company's initial financing.
The company closed a major equity financing in 2008.
